Jammed, Leaking, or Dead? We Fix It Same Day.
A broken garbage disposal brings the kitchen to a standstill — backed-up water in the sink, no food waste handling, and often a leak dripping under the cabinet. Whether your unit is humming but not spinning (a jam), leaking at the sink flange or discharge pipe, making no sound at all, or simply old enough to warrant replacement, Aqua Tech provides fast diagnosis and same-day service throughout Des Plaines and the northwest suburbs.
We install all major residential brands — InSinkErator Badger and Evolution series, Moen, Waste King, and others — and heavy-duty commercial units for restaurant kitchens and food service operations. Most residential jobs are completed in under an hour from arrival. We give you an honest assessment: we do not push replacements when a quick repair is the right call.
Same-Day Installation & Repair
We carry common residential disposal units on our service vehicles. Call in the morning and in most cases your kitchen will be functional by the end of the day.
Commercial Kitchen Disposals
We install and service heavy-duty commercial garbage disposals for restaurants, cafeterias, and food service operations. Commercial units handle far greater volume and require proper installation to perform correctly.
Honest Repair vs. Replace Assessment
We diagnose the problem first and tell you whether repair or replacement makes more sense given the unit's age and the cost of the repair. We do not push unnecessary replacements.
Flat-Rate Pricing
Written quote before we start any work. Whether it is a jam clearing or a full commercial installation, you know the full price — labor plus unit — before we begin.

What Your Disposal Is Telling You
Humming but Not Spinning
A disposal that hums when you turn it on but the grinding chamber does not spin is jammed — something is blocking the impeller. Often fixable quickly with the reset button and Allen wrench at the bottom of the unit. If the motor has burned out from running jammed, replacement is needed.
No Sound at All
Complete silence when switched on usually means a tripped reset button (check the bottom of the unit first), a tripped breaker, a failed motor, or a wiring connection issue. We diagnose which it is and give you a repair vs. replace recommendation.
Leaking Under the Sink
Disposal leaks occur in three main places: the sink flange at the top (needs re-sealing with plumber's putty), the discharge pipe outlet on the side (worn gasket), or the body of the unit itself (internal seal failure — typically means replacement).
Persistent Bad Odors
Rotting food odor that does not clear after running water and ice is usually organic buildup in the grinding chamber and under the splash guard. If cleaning attempts do not solve it, the unit may have a crack or worn interior collecting debris.
Loud Metal-on-Metal Grinding
A grinding or rattling metal sound during operation means a hard object — bone fragment, a utensil piece, a coin — has gotten into the grinding chamber. Running the disposal further will damage the impeller. Turn it off and call us.
Unit is 10+ Years Old
Most residential disposals last 8–12 years. An older unit that is slow, noisy, or has had multiple repairs may be worth replacing proactively with a newer, quieter model with better grinding capacity.
